Note that starting a new transcription clears the one you have already created. ![]() This lets you listen to what you recorded, correct anything it got wrong, add either specific portions or everything to your document. After about a minute Word finished converting the recorded audio it had captured and displayed the transcription in a pane on the right hand side of the document. Once I had finished, I simply paused recording and hit the Save and Transcribe now button. The above was all dictated using the transcription feature. There are still gaps and weaknesses, so you shouldn’t worry that someone will pass a machine off as a person in either direction, yet… it’s already better than some people I know! Conclusion Machines are able to listen to what you say and make a decent job of turning it into text or take text and turn that into really rather fairly human sounding voice, with intonation, pacing and pauses. I’ve mentioned in a previous blog how impressed I am also with the Text to Voice capabilities that are now appearing. Tim Danton has less to say about my written grammar and phrasing less too. I count myself amongst those fortunate enough to be benefiting from these improvements as I suffer with Repetitive Strain Injury from even mild mounts of keyboard and mouse use. Of course, this is all part of Microsoft’s grand vision infusing AI into everything that people do and, more importantly, empowering others ensuring that they enable everybody regardless of circumstance, ability level, or disabilities and differences to interact effectively and fully with technology. Personally, have been very impressed with how big a change Microsoft has made in its approach to these things since their new vision was announced by Satya Nadella a few years ago. “To empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more.” Microsoft’s corporate mission right I think it is really rather impressive. ![]() ![]() Just Speak normally.ĭon’t forget to review it, since even the very best voice recognition is only about 80 or 90% accurate, and there will be oddities in what you actually said until you build up experience. No clever audio hardware needed. No need to change the way you speak. No need to speak slowly or differently. Transcription worked very acceptably with my middle English accent and respected British English spelling, which I suspect is a function of my Word document templates or having been set up with the correct language (unlike so many other people I could mention). Nine dictation languages are supported today, with 12 in preview. However, the press release and Microsoft’s blog that alerted me to the new feature (both dated yesterday as I write this) may already be out of date as it seemed to pick up British English (proper English, as some of us like to refer to it) correctly, based on the existing Dictation settings. Right now, it officially supports just US English. The respect points must be unlocked, with the S button we can access the skills menu to see how many we have under them, the glasses can be won when using objects, after we have passed level 5 of killing the bosses, where the missions are rewarded with consumable objects and glasses becomes a point of respect, having the fort is possible to customize, this in the functional tab, taking into account the 4v different skill stations that we are going to have available No matter where we are, it is necessary that we use a skills position for said station to benefit. Torchlight 3: How to use respectacles in Torchlight 3? The game features a shared world, where players can cooperatively explore dungeons and slay. The game takes place 100 years after the first Torchlight game. It was released in 2020 for Steam, with console ports to follow. It was developed by Echtra Games and published by Perfect World. In the same way that in many RPGs we have in this game the option of respectacles, it is a structure that allows the reconstruction of our character, but achieving it in this game is complicated, for this we must progress in the game until we get to unlock the strong, which will make it easy to know Torchlight 3: How to use respectacles, let's see the following content for details. Torchlight III (formerly Torchlight Frontiers) is the third installment of the Torchlight games series. Respectacles can be obtained from bosses (after level 5) and quests as a consumable item in your inventory. You have no idea how nice it is to come home and not have to be bombarded with that smell. You know what I’m talking about, don’t you? It’s that indescribable, nasty smell of pet dander and just ick… I mean, I love my pets, but they do have some nasty odors! I did notice after using the Moso Natural Air Purifying Bag that the odor has been eliminated when you walk in my door and you aren’t hit in the face with the unknown pet smell. There is nothing worse than having a dog go outside and when you let him in, it smells like “dog”. I wish I could send scents through your computer screen because I have a cat and a dog and living in the Chicago burbs, it goes from 30-70 degrees day to day around these parts. But this is not cheap, and the set fees plus service starts at around ¥100,000 (US$915 at current exchange rates) depending on the shop, the car, and what’s actually required in order to pass the test. As Dino has mentioned previously, a lot of shops in Japan make their living by handling the whole shaken process on behalf of their customers. The second option comes with a lesser headache. Some people would rather not deal with the headaches of returning their cars to shaken-legal status or making any necessary repairs, so simply offload them to someone else. The first and cheapest is to simply get rid of your car. Vehicle owners in Japan have three options when it comes to the shaken inspection. ![]() I’ve just been through this with Project Rough, and brought my camera along for the ride. Yes, there are times when the police do take the initiative and crackdown on modified cars, but compared to many other countries around the world, Japan really is a safe haven for tuners.Įvery two years though, that safe haven is challenged as all vehicles are required to undergo an extensive shaken inspection. And for good reason, too – here in Japan there are no shortage of vehicles slammed mere millimeters off the ground, and with exhaust systems so loud that it makes the bosozoku seem tame. How is it possible for Japanese car enthusiasts to get away with that? It’s a phrase I’ve heard countless times on various social media platforms. “There’s no certainty about why flamingos die in large numbers,” Harper said, but theories have suggested an infectious bout of pneumonia, he said. He counted up to 1,000 fallen birds in a single day, and estimated that about 200,000 birds were lost that season. In fact, when Harper first visited Lake Bogoria in Kenya in 1989, he walked into one of the bigger die-offs in the East African population’s history. TONY KARUMBA / AFP - Getty Images fileīut large numbers of flamingos also have a tendency to die all at once, for reasons that remain unclear to researchers. Lesser flamingos are pictured on Septemin Lake Natron. The lake is full of flamingo birds from August up to October, and at this time the flamingos come and lay eggs, and later the eggs hatch during the wet season. A courting pair, plump from gulping down red algae and blushing from the pigment that the microbes leach into their skin, will produce a single oblong egg, laid in a miniature salt island made of the soda ash that precipitates out of the lake water as the water evaporates. Although the planned operation will be located more than 40 miles away, drawing the soda ash in through pipelines, conservationists worry it could still upset the natural water cycle and breeding grounds. For now though, life prevails-even in a lake that kills almost everything it touches.Life and death on the banks of Lake Natronįlamingo flocks arrive at Natron annually, even though each bird will mate only once every four or five years. The Tanzanian government has reinstated plans to begin mining the lake for soda ash, used for making chemicals, glass and detergents. This unique ecosystem may soon be under pressure. “All the lagoons join when the lake is high and fish must retreat to their stream refuges or die.” Otherwise, no fish are able to survive in the naturally toxic lake. Three species of tilapia thrive there part-time. “Fish have a refuge in the streams and can expand into the lagoons at times when the lake is low and the lagoons are separate,” Harper said. Some fish, too, have had limited success vacationing at the lake-lower salinity lagoons form on the outer edges from hot springs flowing into Lake Natron. ![]() ![]() "Humans cannot, and would die if their legs were exposed for any length of time.” So far this year, water levels have been too high for the flamingos to nest. “Flamingos have evolved very leathery skin on their legs so they can tolerate the salt water," David Harper, a limnology professor at the University of Leicester, tells. When the water hits the right level, the baby birds are kept safe from predators by a caustic moat. At Lake Natron the fledging period is about 70 days, but at Lake Magadi it was about 90 days, probably because the parents had to fly to Lake Natron for food. ![]() Three-quarters of the world’s lesser flamingos fly over from other saline lakes in the Rift Valley and nest on salt crystal islands that appear when the water is at a very specific level-too high and the birds can’t build their nests, too low and predators can waltz across the lake bed and attack. The development of the young resembles that of the Greater Flamingo, but the two are distinguishable at an early age by bill structure. Once every three or four years, when conditions are right, the lake is covered with the pink birds as they stop flight to breed. The unique color comes from cyanobacteria that photosynthesize into bright red and orange hues as the water evaporates and salinity rises before that process occurs during the dry season, the lake is blue.īut one species actually makes life among all that death-flamingos. The water is oversaturated with salt, can reach temperatures of 140 degrees and has a pH between 9 and 10.5-so corrosive that it can calcify those remains, strip ink off printed materials and burn the skin and eyes of unadapted animals. The lake's landscape is surreal and deadly-and made even more bizarre by the fact that it's the place where nearly 75 percent of the world's lesser flamingos are born. ![]() Bats, swallows and more are chemically preserved in the pose in which they perished deposits of sodium carbonate in the water (a chemical once used in Egyptian mummification) seal the creatures in their watery tomb. At the base of a mountain in Tanzania’s Gregory Rift, Lake Natron burns bright red, surrounded by the calcified remains of animals that were unfortunate enough to fall into the salty water. Viewing art is no exception to this human tendency. Our brains love to take shortcuts (even at our own peril) and do things the simple way. We will cover this soon in the “Negative Space Drawing Exercises” section. Leaving negative space around the 3D objects you draw creates a more convincing background, making the objects pop more.Īnd you can even use the shapes of the negative space around an object to make more realistic 3D shapes. If you’ve been creating art for long, you are already familiar with the challenge of making realistic 3D shapes on a flat, 2D surface. Allowing your subject(s) plenty of room to breathe lends them definition and allows the viewer to know what to focus on. The brain grasps for something to focus on and instead gets confused because there’s too much action and not enough space. Most people don’t appreciate compositions that are too full as they can feel chaotic to look at. It’s the space around your points of focus that will determine how they look in your finished art piece. The photo below is a good (and not to mention, adorable) example of this: ![]() Try focusing on the empty spaces around your subject next time, and you’ll end up with more balance in your work. Getting it right can be tricky at first, but becomes easier with practice. When you use it correctly, it gives a natural balance and sense of “rightness” to your composition. Negative space draws your eye to the subject of your art, giving it space to breathe. There are a number of convincing reasons to start prioritizing negative space in your artwork. This is a simple example, but we’ll get into more complex interplays of negative space vs positive space later. In the image above, the white areas surrounding the tree is the negative space. This is the canvas or background that shows through or surrounds your subject matter, but it doesn’t have to be white or completely blank. In the piece below, the tree is the positive space. It’s what you’re drawing or painting onto the blank space, or the shape created by the space. This is essentially the action in your art, or the subject matter. What you don’t include (negative space) is as important as what you do include (positive space). ![]() The interaction between these two elements is what directs your eye where to go when you view a design or painting. What do positive and negative space mean in art? They are what create the tension in a piece. And I’m here to share that knowledge with you, so you can create balanced, eye-catching art. I’ve since learned that intentionally leaving some emptiness results in a less crowded and better-looking result. The result was often pages covered in busy patterns, literally without an inch of space. The blank space was almost painful to look at and seemed to be yelling “Fill me!” My problem as an artist has always been resisting the urge to cover the page or canvas with subject matter. ![]() What if a simple technique could change your compositions?ĭid you know that what you don’t include in your art matters as much as what you do? Have you wondered what’s stopping your art from popping the way you wish it did? Then it’s time to learn about negative space in art! The problem was not so much the lamp itself, but the power source. In spite of the poor alternatives, it took more than 70 years before the arc lamp resulted in practical lighting devices on a large scale. Every street lamp had to be lit individually every night, and extinguished every morning. ![]() Streets were lit by oil or open flame gas lamps (or not at all). Oil lamps had similar drawbacks, and the recent open flame gas lamps were only a modest improvement - the only advantages being that they were a little bit stronger and cleaner and only had to be ignited once. ![]() It took an awful lot of work to install, to light and to replace all those candles (see below), not to mention the toxic smoke, the smell, the heat, the built-up of soot and the risk of fire resulting from this. Large buildings, like theatres, were sometimes lit by hundreds or even thousands of candles. As a way of lighting up streets and large interior spaces, however, the technology sounded very promising. It was obvious that the powerful light of an arc lamp was absolutely unsuitable for use in a room. The discovery of the arc light was a spectacular feat, because the light it produced was incomparably stronger than anything else available at that time: candles, oil lamps and – appearing around the same time – open flame gas lights, which produced only 10 to 20 candlepower. The temperature in the arc could rise to 4,000 degrees Celsius (more than 7,000 degrees Fahrenheit), the highest temperature that man achieved until the arrival of the atomic bomb. By further moving the rods just a little bit apart, the current flows through the vaporizing carbon and spans the air gap with an “arc” of intense light.Īn electric candle typically produced a light of 1,500 to 6,000 candlepower, which corresponds to the output of 11 to 43 modern 100-watt incandescent light bulbs. If two electrified carbon rods touch each other, some of the carbon vaporizes. In an incandescent light bulb (which was developed only 70 years later) an electric current is transferred over a filament, but in the case of an arc lamp this happens through the air instead. Davy, who can be considered the true founder of electric lighting, discovered that a blinding white light was produced by hooking up two charcoal rods to a battery, and bringing them very close together. The arc light (or “electric candle”) was invented and demonstrated by Sir Humphry Davy at the very beginning of the 19th century in England. ![]() An automatic car wash is a feasible alternative whenever you don’t have enough time. Cleaning your car using this method is simple and quick. ![]() Large brushes, high-pressure water, soap jets, and a conveyor for guiding a car towards the cleaning equipment inside a tunnel structure are typically used in automatic car washes. However, you shouldn’t use this car wash too frequently because doing so can cause the paint on your car to become damaged by the bristles of the brushes. Prices for basic automatic car washes typically range from $10 to $20. In comparison to the average cost of other car wash types, the average cost of an automatic car wash is not excessively high. How Much Does An Automatic Car Wash Cost? Missing spots when hand-washing your car can cause paint erosion and other long-term problems in addition to lowering the curb appeal of your car. Hand washing your car inevitably results in missed spots and dirty areas that are out of reach. Regardless of your level of expertise or the amount of time you spend hand-washing your car, it’s highly likely that a car wash will give your car a more thorough, efficient wash that leaves it cleaner than you could ever get by doing it yourself. When you take your car through the car wash, you can quickly and easily customize the kind of wash you want for your car that best suits its needs and is available at a price point that works for you. The majority of automatic car washes provide a range of customizable options that let you select the cleaning tasks you want the wash to carry out on your car. A typical automatic car wash uses 35 gallons of water to wash one car, whereas hand washing one car uses 150 gallons of water.Īdditionally, hand washing your car generates a lot more wastewater than having it washed at an automatic car wash. When compared to hand-washing your car, automatic car washes use a lot less water. Automatic car washes are more environmentally friendly for a variety of reasons. In order to help the environment, you should take your car to an automatic car wash rather than hand-washing it yourself. The auto wash, on the other hand, uses high-pressure water power to wash cars in order to protect your car from damage such as tiny scratches on the exterior.
